Ethics in action - implementation of the program Bon appetit - the joy of dining in long term care

Abstract

Autonomy as an abstract ideal of long term care is often understood as ability to choose rationally and to decide independently. Its enactment in everyday life and practice of care takes many faces though.

In/dependence of each person is constantly created in relations with other people and objects. Food and dining in long term care facilities provide us with a wonderful opportunity in enhancing care relations, supporting dignity of each person and bringing and nurturing joy of eating and being in caring relations.
