Abstract

Functionalist-structuralist theories are typical for the Central and Eastern-European space, however there is a confusion in the mainstream TS between theories of "functional equivalence" and the German "functionalist" Skopos theory. As a result the sociosemiotic theories proposed e.g. by Levý and Popovič are excluded.
