Abstract

The article deals with the phenomenon of verbal aggressivity in political discourse, both in the media and in political discussions. It shows the difference among impoliteness, rudeness and aggressivity in communication.

The examples of politica ldialogues present aggressive communication as a specific communicative strategy. In the mentioned dialogues, speakers use controversies as a form of self-presentation and they forward their own interests at the expense of their partners (oponents) in communication.

In political discourse, aggressive communication need not be damaging for the speaker, on the contrary, it can boost speaker's position in the group represented by him.
