Collaboration of the Czech information Society and the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship in Prague
Abstract
The topic of "information brokering" is focused in the Institute of Information and Library Studies, Charles University in Prague for almost twenty years. Students are acquainted with the various electronic information sources, especially commercial or public access databases.
Students make many subject searches during their education. The favourite topic for theses are various parts of practice in Czech (or abroad) information industry.
Great attention is paid to the area "competitive intelligence". Many graduates of this field of LIS study are among the known information professionals, which working mainly in the computer industry, healthcare and media.
The lecture summarizes the fundamental aspects of the preparation of future information professional, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with companies and professionals. Lecture contains some examples good practice in Czech Republic.
