Abstract
Slovene Matija Murko as a scholar in Slavic comparative lingvistics, folklore and literary history began his studies in 1880 in Vienna, where Franc Miklošič was his professor.Matija Murko wrote about him and his work in eighties and nineties - at the beginning of his career - in the Vienna period, praising his attempt to research the history of Slavic civilisation. The most important article , writen after Miklošič's death, is "Miklošič's youth and education" (Miklosichs Jugend und Lehrjahre).
Miklošič also deeply inspired Murko in his thinking about slavistics throughout his life.
