The famous play by Herman Heijermans, Op hoop van zegen (The Good Hope, 1900), has been translated several times in Czech. Two officially published translations exist: the first was made in 1901 by O.S.
Vetti (Alois Koudelka) and was used till the fifties of the 20th century for performances. The other dates from 1973 and was made by Miloš Honsa, who initially was the director of an amateur theater company.
In the chapter I submit these two translations to a translatological analysis.
