European libraries and refugees : Selected Activities of European Libraries in Connection With the Growing Numbers of Refugees

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

European libraries cannot remain inactive and watch the growing numbers of refugees heading for Europe and the accompanying mood in the society. Numerous foreign libraries have already come up with a variety of services that should facilitate the life of the refugees in a new country.

Another direction that the libraries are also following is raising awareness of the public about the current situation, mediating information sources or providing space for discussion and getting to know each other. Many examples of good practice could serve as inspiration for libraries elsewhere.
