Slavonic Idea of Yuriy Krizhanich - Alternative Historical Way of Russia?

Abstract

The article is devoted to the Croatian thinker and priest Yuriy Krizhanich (1617/1618 - 1683). The author asks himself in what way the Krizhanich's historiosophical considerations, based on two main principles - slavism and unionism, were correlated with the spiritual world of Muscovite Russia.

He analyses the Krizhanich's ideas not as a simple plan to modernize (to westernize) the Russian state, but as a conception of an alternative way of Russian history which was never realized.
