Validation of winter atmopheric circulation over Europe in global climate models

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to analyse winter (December to February) atmospheric circulation over Europe in global climate models. We validate historical runs of 35 CMIP5 models for 1961-2000 by means of a comparison with 3 atmospheric reanalyses.

The main research method we use are objective (automated) classifications of atmopheric circulation patterns.
