Hydric restorations of surface coal mines take a lot of changes, for example in thermal properties (thermal capacity and conductivity), albedo or surface roughness. That leads also to changes in the atmosphere and other parts of environment.
Our study is concerned with the influence of newly formed water area on air temperature and humidity. The analyses were mad e by numerical weather prediction model COSMO with a very high horizontal resolution (333 m).
On the basis of model computations we developed simple physical model ALAKE. ALAKE estimates the influence of new lake on air temperature above the lake and in its surroundings.
