The Possibilities of the Scientific Literacy Development in Chemistry

Abstract

The paper deals with the theme of the scientific literacy. The scientific literacy is defined at the beginning, following by the characteristics of PISA assessment.

Moreover, the results of the Czech pupils are presented. The relationship between the Czech curricular documents and the scientific literacy were examined.

There is an idea of the development of the scientific literacy by using teaching tasks in chemistry. The teachers' answers were evaluated and they give us a basic view on the requested support from their side and on the most problematical parts concerning the development of the scientific literacy.
