Abstract

By the means of the methods of cognitive semantics, the study aims to sketch the linguistic view of the Czech phenomenon "citlivost" (sensibility, sensitivity, susceptibility, tenderness...) Concept CITLIVOST is reconstructed on the basis of semantic analysis of the words citlivý, citlivost, using data from the Czech linguistic dictionaries, and also corpus data (SYN 2010). Apart from that, some essays and poetry by several contemporary Czech writers were taken into consideration, in which the "new sensibility" is reflected, usually in the context of human situatedness in the world, considering human relativity, limits, and some potential changes and extensions, too.

In the context of phenomenology, citlivost can be related to intentionality. Connection of the (sensitive) human being with the world (and their fusion, in some cases), is the essence of the metaphorical conceptualization of the phenomenon of "citlivost".
