Magical bricks and protective amulets from the Saite-Persian shaft tombs at Abusir

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2015

Abstract

The chapter deals with the so-called magical bricks and amulets connected with them that had been found in the large shaft tombs (dated to the final part of the 6th century B.C.E.) during the Czech archaeological excavations at Abusir, Egypt. Those artefacts served to protect the mummies of the tomb owners according to the religious thought of ancient Egyptians.
