Abstract

Elastotic changes of the gastrointestinal tract are considered to be relatively rare and are reporteted mostly as case reports or in small series of cases. These changes can be classified as elastofibrosis, angioelastosis and elastofibroma.

The lesions are benign but can be associated with other benign or malignant lesions. Fibroelastosis alone can clinically be detected as a symptomatic polypoid lesion or cause intestinal obstruction with the need of surgical resection.
