Zhu Wenxin (1883-1939) and His History of Astronomy: What it tells on himself, his motivation and his era
Abstract
Besides of Zhu Wenxin and a brief analysis of his Short History of Astronomy (Tianwenxue xiao shi, 1935) that is his most significant work, this paper also focuses the questions of his motivation and possible socio-political factors that had influenced the founding of historiography of Chinese astronomy as a scientific discipline in 1920s and 1930s and that are traceable either from his works or from other articles of contemporary authors.
