Abstract

The presented study is based on an analysis of the Hungarian contemporary press and seeks to capture the development and content of the diplomatic activities of Milan Hodža during his short negotiations with the representatives of the Hungarian government, mainly with Oszkár Jászi, in the months of November and December of 1918. The activities of Milan Hodža are mostly reflected in terms of enforcing the interests of Czech-Slovak policy, especially with regard to providing and promoting the integration of Slovakia into the Czechoslovak state.

However, most Czech and Slovak papers until now have not analyzed Hodza's immediate reactions from the period during (and after) his meetings with representatives of the Hungarian government. Such analysis shows us how Hodža and his colleagues from the Slovak National Council effectively ended the diplomatic offensive of the Hungarian government in the direction of maintaining the Slovak territory within the Hungarian state.
