Assessment of the Phonetic Aspect of Speech of Russian-Speaking Foreigners by Czech Native Listeners

Abstract

This chapter is dedicated to the question of which phonetic features are important for the native speaker of Czech in assessing the level of foreign accent in Czech speech of Russian-speaking foreigners and whether the assessment is in any way related to the socio-demographic characteristics of the listeners (their sex, age, origins and profession). The basis of the experiment is the assessment of speech using the perception test and the characteristics of the aspects which influenced the listener's assessment.
