Social Field Work in Slovakia. Evaluation of the Social Field Work Programme Financed from the European Social Fund in Slovakia 2007-2013

Abstract

The Evaluation covers the main problem areas of the realization of social field work, such as the institutional arrangment and the management of the programme, the targeting of the projects, the distribution of resources, the typology and hirarchy of programme employees, the relationships between programme employees and their clients, the material conditions and the societal acceptance of the programme employees. Part of the evaluation report are answers to the evaluation questions and recommendations for the new programming period.

The research combined three methodological approaches: Desk research, statistical analysis and field research. In the frame of the field research the authors visited 22 municipalities and locations in Slovakia, where they conducted ethnografical observations and made about 250 interviews with various stakeholders (representatives of municipalities, social field workers, clients).
