Dispersion from short-duration ground level point gas source in idealised urban canopy

Abstract

The paper deals with short-duration ground level gas leakages in idealised urban canopy. The leakages were simulated in a wind tunnel specialised in boundary layer modelling.

The concentration time series were measured by Fast Flame Ionisation Detector at different model positions at the height of the human breathing zone. The sampling places were located into three streets transverse to the approach flow angle.

At each sampling place, many experiment repetitions were realised to obtain statistically representative datasets. From the data, puff characteristics (arrival time, leaving time, dosage and peak concentration) were calculated and are discussed in the paper.
