Abstract
The author describes the Advanced trauma life support (ATLS) course and its implementation in the Czech Republic. The course is based on standardized approach to patients suffering multiple trauma and information are validated at the current level of medical knowledge according to evidence based medicine.
The strusture od the course and dinal skills and competencies of the participants are presented, too. The course si a part on educational curriculum od Emergency Medicine.
