Abstract
The Institute of Translation Studies of the Philosophical Faculty (Charles University) organized the first academic - and international - Conference devoted to the prominent Czech translator of the 2nd half of the 20th century, Jan Zábrana (1931-1984). The Conference, held in November 6-7 2015, was supported by the Ministery of Culture of the Czech Republic.
It addressed various questions of translation and authorial literary work that have been posed by Zábrana's comple,mentary literary efforts and accomplishments. Yet the Conference was also interested in the interconnection of translation and creative writing in a more general sense.
