Abstract

The Reading comprehension - a Typical Development and its Risks project was exceptional regarding to a size of the research sample (N=515). The research design was based on a quantitative methodology and its aim was to cover all important aspects of the reading comprehension development in primary school children (specifically, students from 1st to 4th grade of primary school).

We used the simple model of reading (Gough & Tunmer, 1986) as a main framework, but we also included other factors which might affect the comprehension. The chapter in a collective monograph deals with basic methodological framework.

Describes research sample, project timetable, and used test battery. It also analyses some statistical parameters, used psychological tools and introduces methods of data processing.
