Abstract
The monograph is the first Czech synthesis of the political, economic, and cultural history of Libya from antiquity to present days. The chapters concerned with Libyan territory provide detailed study of Berbers, Phoenicians, Greecs, Roman Empire, Arab expansion, Ottoman Empire, Italian occupation, military operations during the World War II, Libyan monarchy, dictatorship of Muammar Qadhdhafi, and Libyan Civil War 2011.
Czech-Libyan relations are analysed in the last chapter.
