In 1940 the scholar in Classics and Coptology, V. Stegemann, was transferred as lecturer in Classics from Würzburg to Deutsche Karls-Universität at Prague, where he worked together with Th.
Hopfner. Stegemann was specialized in Coptic and ancient astrology and won lasting merit in editing Coptic texts on magic and witchcraft and in editing fragments of the astrologer Dorotheos of Sidon.
