Abstract
Manuel Teles da Silva (1696-1771), a Portuguese by origin, founded the Austrian (Moravian) branch of the lineage of Counts Silva Tarouca. Analyzing his personal library and a part of his correspondence we would like to demonstrate that he did not lose interest in affairs in his country and its colonies.
