Literature and Freemasonry in the Tuscany of Ubaldino Peruzzi

Abstract

This article deals with the relation that exists between Freemasonry and Italian literature in the city of Florence during the second half of 19th. In this period was very active in the political life of Florence, Ubaldino Peruzzi, who was Mayor of the city and one of the ministers of the newly formed Kingdom of Italy.

The Peruzzi's house, situated in ""Borgo dei greci"", was active one of the most important cultural salon of the time known as the "red room" which was frequented assiduously by many intellectuals, artists and politicians as Edmondo De Amicis, Ruggiero Bongos, Giovan Battista Giorgini, Renato Fucini, Cesare Alfieri and many other intellectuals of the time.
