Jičín Grammar School in Eastern Bohemia at the turn of the 19th and 20th century had an exellent reputation. Following study does not specifically focus on the history of the institution, its professors or famous students.
It is dedicated to everyday life of the school at that time. As a base for the theme the author used official school records and memorials of the people involved.
The text describes studying conditions and demanded level of achieved education, pays attention to the prestige and professional qualities of the professors, teaching methods, student spare time activities and also to relationships between students and professors.
