Abstract
The article deals with the relationship of the Czech historian and archivist Karel Kazbunda and his native town of Jičín. The author describes three periods of Kazbunda's life- the first one is focused on the childhood and studies at grammar school.
There is mentioned even his activity in the Academic Readers' Union student association (Akademická čtenářskáká jednota). Then the historian had to leave Jičín, his professional life was connected with Vienna and Prague, however he came back regularly.
After the February 1948 he gave up all activities in scientific circles to save his house in Jičín and returned to his native town despite he had to live a modest life without friends there.
