The monography consists of the essays which were introduced on April 30, 2014 on the occasion of The Round Table which was organised by the Department of French Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in cooperation with The French Institute in Prague. There are eight essays.

Philippe Martin, Tomáš Duběda and Jana Vlčková-Mejvaldová deal with a supra-segmental side of the language and the issue of its mastering. Jean-Yves Dommergues, Élise Ryst and Erwan Pépiot describe the ways of linguistic processing of information by the students of French as a foreign language.

Enrica Galazzi deals with the issue of pronunciation model in today's globalized society. Sylva Nováková writes about a current position of phonetics in French language teaching, similarly Kateřina Suková Vychopňová focuses on the types of phonetic exercises in French textbooks.

The essay by Michaela Mádlová outlines the use of media in French language teaching. Every out of the eight chapters proves how the current scientific research is closely connected with didactic problems of teaching French as a foreign language.
