Abstract

The conference paper presented the project "Women in Science" started by the Centre for Gender Studies of the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in 2013-14. The teachers and the students in the course endeavoured to develop methods of gender analysis while researching the histories of selected women scholars' carriers in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Based on the research they wrote entries for the newly created electronic database of "Women in Science in the Czech lands (up to 1945)" (albina.ff.cuni.cz). The paper presented phenomena of more general gender significance that had been discovered during the research: the women scholars' tendency towards interdisciplinary approaches, diversions from the established conceptions of scholarship in the given period, and the interest in broader social relevance of scholarly work.

It demonstrated these phenomena in a mosaic from facts of life and work of K. Špecingerová - Baušová, L. Matiegková, A.

Dratvová and J.Moschelesová.
