Abstract
SEER oncology register has shown 3 fold increase of incidence of thyroid cancer during last 35 years, however mortality of thyroid cancer remains unchanged ((0.48/100000 in 1975 and 0.51/100000 in 2010) and five year survival has improved from 92.1 % to 97.9 %. One third of deaths is from anaplastic cancer, however represents only 1 % of year-incidence.
