Abstract
The book Prevention of risky behaviours at school was under development for almost 4 years, and it has been contributed to by more than 20 national authors representing various institutions and thematic fields of primary prevention. The second edition has been expanded by additional crucial topics reflecting the development of theory and practice of school prevention in the Czech Republic in recent years.
At the same time, the second edition is closely related to 3 other monographs: (1) "Výkladový slovník základních pojmů prevence rizikového chování" (Dictionary of basic terms in risky behaviour prevention); (2) "Programy a intervence školské prevence rizikového chování v praxi" (Programmes and interventions of risky behaviour prevention at school in practice); and (3) "Kvality a efektivita v prevenci rizikového chování dětí a dospívajících" (The qualities and effectiveness of risky behaviour prevention in children and adolescents). These publications form a tetralogy that describes the development and current result of gradual development of a uniform prevention framework at school, initiated in 2000.
It is a unique proposal of a nationwide, interdisciplinary and inter-sector system of school prevention, which is gradually undergoing broader discussion and has been developed on various levels. Given its complex design and elaboration, the book Prevence rizikového chování ve školství (Prevention of risky behaviours at school) is an original authorial act, which should help to improve the present state of education in primary prevention as well as the gradual development of a nationwide system of prevention programmes at schools and educational institutions.
