Czech textile and garment industry is under way of complex restructuring and transformation since 1989, which is caused by the transition from a planned socialist economy to a capitalist economy. Furthermore, the Czech economy become a part in the global transformation of the textile and clothing industry.
There is overall fall in production due to a relocation of activities with a high proportion of routine manual work, increase of activities with high added value in the Europe. Czech firms therefore have embarked on various strategies.
The paper first outlines main trends in the industry and then it focuses on the different strategies of companies that are demonstrated on the example of the 8 companies.
