Abstract

In this chapter is disputes the western especially german influence on Czech thought and claims that the Cyrillo-Methodian and Byzantine influence on the Czech thought played much more important role. Where do the Czechs belong? Is it to the west or to the east? The well-known metaphor of a bridge had a large impact on the Czechoslovak post-war foreign policy.
