Translation counterparts as indicators of the boundaries of units of meaning: A contrastive view of the position of "come V-ing" among the patterns of the verb come

Abstrakt

The study argues that the pattern "'come + -ing form of a motion verb" constitutes a single unit of meaning. The delimitation of the boundaries of the unit is based on its Czech translation counterparts.

A comparison of the translation correspondences of various patterns of the verb come points out the ties between the particular type of complementation and the function of the verb.
