Abstract
This article analyzes the installation of Body Worlds by Gunther von Hagens as an intertwining of imagination and ideology. By the means of a phenomenon-historical investigation it explains the development from Leonardo da Vinci's opening of human body until to the creation of wax preparations and von Hagens' 'body plastination.'
