The chapter deals with the Muslim burial rites and different attitudes toward visiting graves and holy sites (ziyara) in Syro-Palestine in Ajjubic and Mamluk period based on variety of sources including travel literature and historical and law literature, such as Ibn Jubayr, Ibn Ukhuwwa, al-Abdari, al-Ghazali and Mujir ad-Din al-Hanbali. A special focus is put on Abraham's tomb in Hebron and the pilgrimage rituals exercised on the site.
