Abstract

A report on revision of genus Stramentum Logan 1897 occurring within the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (BCB). Finds of complete, articulated skeletons are rare.

Generally, occurrence of an articulated stramentids appear to constrained to two exceptional cases: when cirripede larvae settled on planispirally coiled ammonites or when cirripedes were embedded in black shales. The first is the case of articulated stramentids from BCB.

The geological record of the genus Stramentum is sparse and fragmentary within BCB. There are only seven exemplars known; one is haused in Museum in Krupka (Regional Museum in Teplice) and other six speciements in the Palaeontological collections of National Museum in Prague.

All of these individuals belong to the subgenus Stramentum (Stramentum) Logan, 1897 and those from National Museum are assigned to the species Stramentum (S.) pulchellum (Sowerby, 1843). The specimen from Museum in Krupka is slightly different and its assignment to this species in uncertain.

Stramentids from BCB have been recorded in the Lower-Upper Turonian at Bílá Hora in Prague, Středokluky, Koštice, Lahošť and Džbán.
