Miloš Marten, a poet, critic and translator of Claudel, and Otakar Theer, a modernist author, both discussed the style and reach of Claudel's œuvre at length, in particularly his dramatic works. One emphasised his latin Catholicism, while the other focused on the mythical element.
Both contributed to the introduction of his poetic thought into the Czech milieu, despite the attempts at dissociation palpable in their exchanges.
