Abstract

Health-compensation or health and balancing exercises is defi ned as a set of exercises, which focus on individual areas of the musculoskeletal system (joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles) and thus operate targeted at improving the health status of individuals, especially the conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Health and compensatory exercise play an irreplaceable role in both primary and secondary prevention of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system; therefore, we include all ages.

Th e aim of the book is to create a vision of making health-compensation programs on specifi c health impairments of the locomotor system. Th ough individual segments and regions of the locomotor system are functionally linked, we discuss the specifi c areas of the spine and joints separately.

Th e book interconnects two main parts - theoretical part and the practical examples of individual exercises (from the simplest to the medium and diffi cult) to build individual motor programs. Addition of health-compensation practice will create a basic precondition not only to achieve higher performance at school, at work, in sports, but also contribute to the healthy lifestyle.

Th e book is intended for professionals. The aim is to introduce issues of health and compensatory exercise not only to coaches, trainers, fi tness centres, teacher of physical health and physical education, but also to sporting public.

For physiotherapy, the text is informative.
