Occupational medical services. Responsibilty of employers and physicians

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2015

Abstract

The publication provides interpretation of the principles currently applicable for the provision of occupational health services in relation to enacted legislation, dealing with health protection and promotion at work of employees/ workers. The aim is to facilitate communication between employers, employees and providers of occupational health services.

Although the authors did not actively participate in the creation of legislation in this area they offer explanations to facilitate applications of sometimes problematic legislation in practice using their long term practical experience. Based on the historical data, the authors also emphasize the economic and ethical dimension and the importance of prevention of work related diseases/disorders, which is an important social asset, because only a healthy, productive, skilled and motivated workforce is a key element of the general socio-economic development of society.
