Abstract

This contribution, in fact a case study, presents a thorough overview of the course of medical Latin for external students (BA courses for nurses, nutritional therapy, and addictology), which is taught at 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague. It explores the syllabus and aims of the course, its structure and the teaching materials used.

Besides, the contribution analyzes various types of test items and the most frequent mistakes made by students, providing also the statistics of students' performance in the final assessment. In the concluding subchapter, it argues that even this minimalistic concept of a medical Latin instruction is of a significant benefit not only for students, but also for their tutors.
