A translation of an article by Galen Strawson. In this article Strawson motivates "the primacy of panpsychism", i.e. the thought that we should prefer panpsychism to all other substantial theories concerning the fundamental nature of reality.
Panpsychism is according to Strawson the best theory we possess as it allows us to hold robust realism about conscious experience without committing us to the thesis of radical emergence, i.e. the view that conscious experience arises from utterly non-experiential being.
