Abstract

In this article, the authors address the problem of education of seniors at older age. They focus particularly on seniors with specific cognitive disorders whose educational needs are qualitatively different from the educative needs of other groups of seniors.

The specificity of this group of seniors is that existing knowledge, skills from all areas of human life due to various disorders, diseases or injuries may gradually fade. Therefore, it is important to look for answers to questions about how to help seniors with cognitive disorders as long as possible to maintain the ability to use existing knowledge , skills, information - both in practical everyday life as well as in the area of intellectual , spiritual and social field.

Above these questions, the team of authors - experts in several areas of care for the elderly, focuses on following subjects: social care, occupational therapy, spiritual needs and activization. The authors also recognize that this issue is much deeper than is usually presented in the popular literature and media , and therefore try to look at the issue of seniors' education more as an education - accompaniment.

Such education is particularly associated with the deepening of the human relationship and a holistic approach to another human being and especially in the aspect of social care for the elderly in a residential facility associated with risk of institutionalization .
