Exhibition about Exhibition : 120. Anniversary of the Openning of the Czechoslavic Ethnographic Exhibition of 1895
Abstract
Exhibition celebrating the 120th anniversary of the openning of the Czechoslavic Ethnographic Exhibition took place in May 2015 in the aula of Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. Eight exposition panels informed visitors about the background and the proceedings of this significant ethnographic event and also provided new information about important contributors to its preparation.
In addition visitors learned about several attractions and curiosities from the "backstage" of this event. The Czechoslavic Ethnographic Exhibition of 1895 represents an important milestone in the establishing of ethnography as a separate scientific discipline.
The exhibition has also introduced a unique collection of previously unpublished photographs from the event that are deposited in the library of the Institute of Ethnology of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague
