Abstract
This publication guides students and other readers through theoretical foundations of tutoring. It contains the knowledge of general and social pedagogy, philosophy of education, leisure education, multicultural education, but also the subject matter of social psychology, special education and the theory of functional literacy.
Tutoring is an attractive but demanding profession, which puts on their leaders new demands and confronts them with all sorts of challenges. Managing them with a professional detachment is mainly based on transmitting knowledge of pedagogical and psychological sciences into the everyday educational reality.
Learning to think in a pedagogical context, learning to benefit from educational theory and practice, learning to be a reflective practitioner: These are the goals of higher education educators. In order to support all students of pedagogy, a team of seven university teachers of the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague has prepared this essential textbook that covers a significant part of the pedagogical-psychological courses in the field.
