Abstract
This contribution examines the iconography of Mexican metro. Its aim is to present and subsequently interpret the Mexican system of underground signing within the historical context of Mexican United States and their capital.
By examining the system of underground signing (giving the examples of symbols used to indicate separate metro stations), I clarify the process of birth of this unique system and I explain its functions in relation to Mexican society and its history.
