Abstract
Agrarian forms of relief are important landscape elements, where plants and animals of conservation importance have their refuges. They have not yet been detected and recorded anywhere in the Krkonoše Mts (the Giant Mts).
The method used for detecting the agrarian forms was based on analysis of a digital terrain model. The main assumption was that agrarian forms differ in some features from the surrounding terrain.
Analytical functions of a geographic information system (GIS) were used for the detection, specifi cally ArcGIS for Desktop software. Validation of the automatic detection results was based on fi eld surveys.
The results achieved by automatic detection were very satisfactory. The Administration of the Krkonoše Mts National Park can use the research results and develop methods for the detection and mapping of agrarian forms of relief in other areas.
