Abstract
The crisis of the european civilization is the crisis of the system of values. In this article the spiritual values, which are the basis of the European identity are analyzing.
The idea heritage of the antique philosophy, mainly the Socrates philosophy, which was arose from his discussions with the sophists, is analyzing also. Further is investigating the contribution of the christian doctrine, on the grounds of which are founded the key values of the European civilization - the freedom and human rights.
