Electrochemical Oxidation of 4-Nitroaniline and 4-Nitrophenol at a Glassy Carbon Electrode

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2015

Abstract

Differential pulse voltammetry at a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used for determination of priority pollutants 4-nitroaniline (4-NA) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). For both compounds Britton-Robinson buffer of pH 2.0 was chosen as an optimal base electrolyte.

The calibration curve was measured for both substances in the concentration range from 2 to 100 mu mol L-1. The calculated limits of detection and quantification are 0.39 and 1.29 mu mol L-1 (RSD = 5.3 % and R-2 = 0.99283 for n = 5) for 4-NP, and 0.29 and 0.96 mu mol L-1 (RSD = 7.62 %, R-2 = 0.99945 for n = 5) for 4-NA, respectively.
